POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the plant’s Health, Safety, and Environmental program by sustaining compliance with Federal and State regulations pertaining to the plant operations, preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies, providing leadership, direction, and prioritization for the sites to Health, Safety, and Environment objectives.
This role will spend an equal amount of their time on administrative and hands-on responsibilities. The HS&E Leader will work side by side with technicians and plant leadership, building trust and confidence with the team, and fostering a culture of safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Member of the plant leadership team and able to influence direction in sustaining compliance with State & Federal Regulations pertaining to site operations
Audit equipment, areas, and processes for safe operation/compliance with applicable regulations
Provide leadership and training to employees with special duties, including Safety Functional Leaders, System Owners, Hazmat Team, and First Aid Team
Ensure the impact of regulatory changes are being managed at the facility
Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required (SARA, RCRA, Air, Wastewater, etc.)
Lead audits / inspections and assist in executing corrective action plans
Communicate, plan, and coordinate regulatory site visits or compliance inspections
Maintain a culture of safety and environment awareness
Maintain inventory of all PPE (including specialty items for First Aid, BBP, Arc Flash, etc.)
Assess HS&E implications of new materials, equipment, and processes via change management system
Responsible for the development and implementation of required training and written programs
Investigate significant HSE incidents and follow-up on corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
Provide leadership, direction, and prioritization for site HS&E objectives
Deliver continuous improvements in HS&E areas to maintain positive results
Maintain Recycling & Zero Waste efforts
Own operation and maintenance of all recycling equipment (balers, compactors, crushers)
Own and maintain wastewater huts including all equipment (probes, flow meter, chemical pumps, etc.)
Maintain solar array and ensure efficient operation
Support & deliver sustainability goals for plant
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree preferred
3 to 5 years’ experience in a Regulatory, Health Safety, or Environmental role; or relevant manufacturing experience
Successful experience leading, coaching, and managing others
Previous leadership experience working at a manufacturing site is preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Demonstrates competent understanding of HSE laws and regulations
Ability to interpret and apply laws, codes, standards, and policies applicable to HS&E
Strong computer skills
Ability to set priorities against a given set of criteria and effectively manage the work to completion
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate internally and externally
Strong organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to be decisive, proactive, and strategic
Ability to work independently
Ability to teach, lead, and motivate others
The base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus.
